Winter Sports - from September to April/May


  • Curling at the Sudbury Curling Club from 4:30 pm to 6pm. One regional competition on March 20th. Head coach Jim Logan.


  • Swimming at the Gatchell Pool. Extra fee $3.00 12 yrs and under, $3.50 for older per session. Adapt from 6 pm to 7 pm, one on one in shallow end. Regular swimmers from 7 pm to 8 pm average of 2 coaches per 10-12 athletes.
  • Advance swimmers from 6pm to 8pm. This group has made it to Provincials and Nationals. Head Coach Brenda Verdiel.


  • Power lifting at Cambrian College, from 6:30 pm to 8 PM. Head coach Richard Simard Fun and fitness
  • Floor Hockey, 6:30 to 8:30 at St. Francis school. Head coach William Whitehead.


  • 5 pin Bowling, Head Coach Catherine Gilchrist, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Extra cost of $2.90 a game, have the choice of playing 1, 2, or 3 games. 100 athletes playing.
  • Swimming at the Gatchell pool for advanced swimmers from 6pm to 8pm.  See Tuesay's information for more details.


  • Snowshoeing Head Coach Jean-Gilles, from 6:30pm to 8 pm, outdoors on dry land at Laurentian Track till snow comes in, then practicing on snow at Laurentian.
  • 5 pin Bowling, Head Coach Catherine Gilchrist, coach Lise Guiscini. From 6:30 pm to 8:30 PM extra cost $2.90 per game, has choice of 1, 2, or 3 games. 30 athletes.
  • Figure skating: Club Manager, Lynn Bouillon, 2 skaters who practice at the Chelmsford Skating Club. Fee for registration at the club and hours for coaching.

Summer Sports - May till the end of August 

Soccer, Head Coach Todd Teddy Track and Field, Head Coach Gerry Landry Softball, Head Coach Andre Laurin T-ball, (adapt) Head Coach Kerri Monaghan Track and Field.

REGISTRATION: takes place every year on the first Wednesday of September. A fee of $35.00 per athlete.This fee includes registration for as many sports the athlete can participate plus your year end banquet in May. All athletes have to sign up for one volunteer event.

The Executive members meeting is once a month on the second Thursday of each month, and the Special Olympics coaches meeting follows the Executive meeting at 7:30pm. Our 7:30 meeting is open to the public, parents, volunteers and athletes.

We have many fund raisers during the year that promote the Special Olympics. In November we have the Dance/Auction, Staples 2 weekends where athletes work in the Staples and Staples asks for donations, Torch Run with the OPP in May, The Boot drive with the OPP at the COSTCO mall in April Easter Weekend.

We are always looking for new volunteers to help out. To help out you need a current police check and complete a Volunteer form.
